One-liner pitch by biomolecules

Updated: Nov 9, 2023

Can you imagine biomolecules as "living-talking-entities," begging to shout out their mind?

Well, in the micro-time between meeting my deadlines and managing home, I imagined a LOT about them- how they talk, feel, and joke around in their designated half-life.

Here are some one-liners, taglines and one-word intro of some major biomolecules that make our life a bundle of activity.

Readout loud; figure out which biomolecule do you connect with?

They are like us in thought and deed!

DNA

One-liner - "Born twisted, so why do you need to go all linear?”

Tagline- Born twisted

One-word intro- Twisted

RNA

One-liner - “Single and ready - mingle/pair/bond -just signal it, baby.”

Tagline- Single by choice

One-word intro -Single

Protein

One-liner-“Complicated, that’s my surname.”

Tagline- It’s complicated

One-word intro- Complicated

tRNA

One-liner-“Why should I transfer sense, nonsense, and missense? I prefer silence!”

Tagline-Transfer sense

One-word intro-Transfer

mRNA

One-liner-“Messaging is never boring; making sense is!!!”

Tagline-Messaging sense

One-word intro-Messenger

Plasmid

One-liner-“Let’s C, You C me or you don’t, next to the big C*.”

Tagline-CCC captured

One-word intro- CCC

* the big C being chromosomal DNA, folks.

Carbohydrate

One-liner-“You can’t handle my sweetness in any form.”

Tagline-Sweetest sin

One-word intro-Sweetness

Lipids

One-liner-“You either like water or me, choose fatty.”

Tagline-Water away

One-word intro-Hydrophobic

Amino acids

One-liner-“You can count us in Oligo – that will be me+19+2.”

Tagline-Building Oligos

One-word intro-20+2*

* There are 22 proteinogenic amino acids in total; 20 standard and 2 introduced during translation mechanisms-selenocysteine and pyrrolysine

RNA Pol

One-liner-“Editing, that’s not my base.”

Tagline-Promoting Change

One-word intro- Changers*

*RNA pol does not have proof-reading activity. This is the reason why RNA viruses are diverse and more dangerous than DNA viruses.

DNA Pol

One-liner-“I aim to perfect- the art of copying*-sue me you codons.”

Tagline-Copy that

One-word intro-Copy

*Copying an idea & concept in any tangible form is plagiarism and it is a punishable offense. So is copyright infringement.

Enzymes

One-liner-“I love ‘cat’ and ‘lies,’ Sis!”

Tagline-Cat & Lies

One-word intro-Catalysis

Restriction enzymes

One-liner-“I am kind of picky on the location, timing, sequence, and arrangement. That’s doesn’t mean I have OCD*-cut off.”

Tagline-Only restricted

One-word intro-Restricted

*Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Here the reference is to the symptom where people can function if it is arranged in a specific fashion.

CRISPR-Cas9

One-liner-“Hand-picked CEO and CCO for ‘cut-paste-edit.’ enterprises.”

Tagline-paste-edit-change

One-word intro-Editors

G Proteins

One-liner-“Ok, what did the 57th* umpire say?”

Tagline-Signaling match

One-word intro-Signals

*G proteins are crucial in cell signaling. In a cell, there are a lot of activities, each backed up by multiple signals. It will be like watching cricket, football, hockey, tennis, relay and at one time.

57 is just a number thrown to emphasize that cell signaling means a buzz of activity and a high-level of coordination and regulation is required.
